Hello World

Do you remember us?

We remember you.

It’s been awhile.

But we’re still here.

This summer has been a bit of a blur. I have only a few regrets:

  • We didn’t get to go camping
    (But Cleo, our dog, did)
  • I didn’t take enough time off of work
    (2 weeks just doesn’t cut it…)
  • I slept waaaay too much
    (Just kidding…)

What has been taking up our time?

What a great question… I’m going to see how well my memory is to recall the past handful of months:

  • Work
  • VACATION! California–met the nephew for the first time (adorable), saw the nieces, saw the fam, saw the Golden Gate Bridge, met Clyde-the-one-eyed-wonder-dog, slept on an airport floor, made a better plan for next time we have to sleep on an airport floor, pet a sting ray… etc.
  • Bonfires in the backyard
  • Bondin’ with the neighbors
  • Triathlon Season
  • Jen’s kick-ass new job!
  • The usual life-sort of stuff
  • Work again
  • Game of Thrones!!!!
  • Gardening
  • Jen started school!
  • Er…
  • Cats?

It’s hard to say what exactly has been keeping us busy. But I’m sure it was something. Sometimes a whole summer just sneaks past you, and you’re left hoping that the cooler weather means that summer is about to start again instead of the dreaded winter.

Oh well, life goes on.

I just wanted to check in!

You know… I did start writing a pretty good post back in June, and tried to finish it in July, and I just never really came back to it. Maybe one day I will.

Mostly, this blog post is because I just wanted to say hi. Hopefully this Fall I’ll be a bit better at finding things to write about. Lately, most of my writing time has been devoted to more of the fiction-variety than the blog-variety. Hey (SIDENOTE)… if you’re into reading fiction and stuff–let me know! I need some readers for something that’s been a long time coming. As in… I’ve been working on it FOREVER. But I feel the end is in sight, and so… 🙂

Well, that’s honestly about all I’ve got for tonight. But I’d like to leave you with one of my most favorite songs. It reminds me of the nostalgic feelings that come at the end of summer, and of the happy memories life gives us. I hope you enjoy it.
